El Dorado Fire and Rescue Service Engine 731

The completed Engine is in El Dorado and is Available for Service.

El Dorado Fire and Rescue Service’s (EFRS) newest vehicle is a type 3 wildland engine being built by S&S Fire Apparatus Company in Fairmont, Indiana (http://ssfire.com/).   This vehicle will carry the call sign of “Engine 731” and will be housed at EFRS Station 3 on Route 285.

Recently, the motor failed on EFRS’ old type 3 wildland engine and because that vehicle was from the mid 1970’s, EFRS elected to replace it with a new apparatus.  Engine 731 is a 2008 International 7400, 4×4 (4 wheel drive) with automatic transmission.  It seats up to six firefighters, carries 850 gallons of water and two pumps; one Hale 500 gallon per minute (GPM) and one Waterous 225 GPM for pump and roll operations.

Engine 731 is classified as a “heavy wildland engine” designed for all kinds of wildland fire operations, including structure protection.  It is the only type 3 wildland engine in Santa Fe County.  Engine 731 is now AVAILABLE FOR SERVICE..
