It is important that Firefighters are well trained to enter a burning building. This situation can be deadly without the proper training. In October, 2011, EFRS members participated in a Live Fire training exercise with other members of the Eastern Region fire departments of Santa Fe County. Two old railroad cars have been placed to simulate a building. To practice, a fire is set in the "building" and firefighters practice building entry and fire knockdown with charged hoses while wearing full Personal Protective Equipment and air packs. The experience is invaluable.
