The El Dorado, Hondo, Glorietta, and Galisteo fire districts were given a rare training opportunity on the weekend of April 19 – 21. They were granted permission by the Eldorado Community School and the contractor to use the old portions of the School to practice firefighting skills prior to their being torn down. About 30 members from the four districts practiced tactics of hose advancement, rescue, vertical ventilation, and fire ground safety. No fires were actually set but the environment of the old buildings was perfect for the creation of emergency scenarios. The firefighters came away tired but with a wealth of experiences.
