Structural Fire
What We Do
When a structure fire is reported, career and volunteer crews respond with a variety of apparatus to protect life, stabilize the incident, and suppress the fire. Responsibilities include:
- Rapid size-up and establishment of incident command
- Interior and exterior fire attack using hose lines
- Search and rescue of occupants within the structure
- Ventilation — horizontal, vertical, and positive pressure
- Salvage and overhaul to prevent rekindling
- Utility control (gas, electric) and scene security
- Exposure protection for adjacent structures
- Coordination with law enforcement and utility providers
SFCFD offers classes and training for those members wishing to obtain IFSAC interior firefighter and other certifications.
